Last night when Peter came home

6:00am

When Peter pulled into his parking space after work last night, I was on the back stairwell reading my book.  I glanced down at him as he got out of his vehicle and stood up to wave at him.  As he was standing by his driver's door, he made a smiley signal with his two index fingers at each side of his mouth.

I was 4 flights up, looking down at him, and I made a frown face with my two index fingers.

He came up, greeted me, and read my termination notice.  He asked me to sit down and let's talk about this.

He started with "Marlene, the one thing I want is for you to be happy and not sad.  And I know this is making you sad.  You were happy working, you liked the company, you liked the people, it was a new position that you could put your arms around and make it grow.  But there's nothing I can do about this."

He then proceeded to assure me that this is not the end of the world, the sun will come up in the east and we'll get through this.
