.Our House Part 5.

Master Bedroom.

Welcome to our room. It is small. It is plain. It is simple.
And we love it!
Adam and I moved in to our home in June of 2009 as newly weds. We wanted to have our room be simple and lucky for us because we were on a tight budget! One splurge we both decided on were these wonderful decals found on Etsy. They were extremely easy to put up--just make sure your roommate or husband helps!
The mirrors, frames, candles, curtains, end tables, and television came from my college townhouse. (The hubs was very happy to reuse these in our new home) The adorable lamps were purchased at Kolhs, and our bedding and dressers came from Target. We were able to save a lot of money by using things we had and I must add, Adam is very proud of the modern monochromatic scheme as well as the bedding he picked out.
The only DIY project featured in our bedroom is the headboard. We did not have the money to buy a nice bed frame with a headboard so I informed Adam of my plan. He was skeptical. We went to Michaels (my home away from home) and bought a large canvas on sale for $14.99. Joann's was our next stop to buy some sheets of stuffing/padding and fabric. Using fabric tacks and some patience, our result was a beautiful headboard for under $30. Yes. I impressed the hubs with this project, felt good ;) The best part is when we decide to change our room colors and/or move, we can simply change the fabric to match!
I snapped a few shots at nighttime to capture the colors more accurately. What started out as documenting my bedroom, quickly turned into a Colden photoshoot. Here are the only shots I got before my dog completely captured my heart {again} and my attention.
Oh Colden.
His little face with black whiskers get me every time.

Thank you for checking out our bedroom! There has been talk lately about a bedroom makeover..or another puppy..or a baby..hm..we shall see what the future holds! ;)

.Our House Part 4.

Welcome to the Millers--Bathroom Style.

We have not 2, not 3, not 4 but ONE bathroom in our home! (Please note I said that with an incredibly large grin on my face) This may be rather odd I am sharing pictures of our bathroom, but here it goes!

View as you walk up the stairs.
The coolest part of our bathroom was put in by the first landlord..it's the shower curtain rod! It is just like the ones used in hotels, it bows out in the middle to make more space..genius! My 6'3" husband LOVES it!

.Our House Part 3.

Dining Room
continuation of Part 2

Our Dining Room is a tiny thing but it serves it's purpose, we EAT in it EVERYDAY! There are plenty of dining tables that would be ideal for this particular set up..BUT..they do not cost $80! This table has been with me for the past 3 1/2 years and is hands down the best purchase made at Goodwill. Some day it will have a nice open room in a beautiful house to stretch it's legs. For now, we are digging the cramp style! ;)

There is not much else to say or do in our dining room..well, maybe there is a little something..

.Our House Part 2.

Introducing our Dining and Living Area

The most important thing to us when we first moved was to make it our place. We were not sure what our place would even look like, feel like, but day by day we made purchases big and small, assembled furniture, and slowly transformed "the duplex" into "our home" all while sticking to a budget!

Adam and I spend the most time in our Dining and Living Area. It's the place we entertain guests, host dinners, watch movies, play with Colden, work on our laptops, take afternoon naps, and where I craft! We wanted the rooms to reflect our style while being welcoming and comfortable for our guests. Adam and I have a great love for nature so I incorporated rustic items throughout our downstairs as well as different fabrics, textures, and earth tones. The final result is young, fresh, and modern!

View as you enter the front door:
While snapping these photos, I stopped and thought, "Hm..I should stage things a bit..let me buy some fresh flowers for the rooms and hide all of Colden's stuff..yeah, that would look better." After about a second or two of thinking this way I laughed, that is pretty but not REAL. This is how my house actually looks after a good cleaning, Colden's crate and all!
The picture on the left displays the gorgeous wood work my incredibly talented husband created. The wooden bowls as well as the "A and K" wooden puzzle were designed and made by Adam when he spent his summer working at Deerfoot Lodge. The puzzle was given to me in a very unique method--a scavenger hunt! It was divided up, each piece with a hand written letter and HINT, all over Camp of the Woods just waiting for my to find it! How awesome is my man :)

The picture on the right shows our favorite photo together..it was taken the same summer as the puzzle standing on top of Indian Head Mtn in the Adirondacks. You may also recognize a certain tree..
The art work above our bookcase are wall decals! We love them and highly recommend using them, especially in a rented place..just peel and stick! The flowers in the bookcase are my wedding bouquet, another perk of using artificial ;) The rest of the bookcase is filled with books on cooking, marriage, faith and a few of our family photos.
And just two photos at dusk with the lights on!
The majority of the items purchased in our home came from Target. If you are wondering about something in particular, just ask :)

and now the..Dining Room..continued in Our House Part 3!

P.S. There is one photo in this group that shows a big empty wall--can you find it? No worries, a new craft will soon be here to fill it!

.Our House Part 1.

Just as I promised in Coming Soon, here is the first peek into our home.

Welcome to the Millers--Kitchen Style.

Adam and I LOVE our little kitchen. Our home is filled with my favorite colors--I'll give you two guesses what they are ;)-- and our kitchen highlights them just beautifully! If you look closely at the pictures, you will notice something..we have NO cabinets! For most people this would cause stress because there is no room to hide everything but for us, what you see is what you get! We are newly weds, we do not own any more than what you see! It's a perfect match for us and I will miss it terribly when moving day comes..
All of my dishes came from Target (as well as EVERYTHING else is my home..) except for the set on the top. This set of China belonged to my Grandmother waaaay back in the day. She had it sitting in a big ol' box in the attic collecting dust and told me the dishes reminded her of me..when I opened the box, I was speechless. Gorgeous, modern dish ware in my favorite colors! I am in love. Now instead of collecting dust in the attic, they are collecting dust on my shelf ;)

I would like you to meet one of my best friends..say, "Hello Coffee Maker!" This was a wonderful gift from my sister-in-law's mother and I use it EVERYDAY..EVERYDAY!
It was hard to capture in such a tiny space but I sure hope you enjoyed!

Stay tuned for
