Maybe you're right, maybe not... I mean, I doubt the guys went in in Kevlar suit saying "we take the loot, not matter what. If someones try to stop us, we kill him". In a bank robbery maybe they would but I doubt they were ready to kill somebody only for a few iPads...

though i don't think that it will take longer than 10 months
because before the last three updates they were updated even more often than 10 months.
getting the back to school deal with a free ipod touch is really tempting... but.... so is a redesign

If you said "not just" I might agree. But if you think keyboard capture code isn't being used for identity threat and/or want to lump anyone who has every run into such malware as "stupid" or "gullible" well my opinion of you just keeps dropping even lower. Perhaps I can interest you in some kryptonite Superman?
Keyloggers are not malware, any more than a fork is a weapon. Can they both be used for malicious purposes? Yes. But that doesn't define them as such. And keyloggers require user intervention to install, or require the user giving access to someone else to install, either of which can easily be avoided.
You still haven't presented one argument, even though you've been all over the map, that lends any credibility to the idea that running antivirus is necessary to keep Macs malware-free. The fact is, there is no Mac malware in the wild that can't be avoided with some common sense and prudent action on the part of the user. Nothing prevents a user from deliberately or foolishly installing malware or giving up their personal identity information, but that's not at issue here.
The fact remains that any user of current Mac OS X who exercises reasonable care in what they install can operate without any antivirus and be malware free.

Rumors are rampant, but they do bring up a good point, as you do here. Who would want to watch a movie on an iPod? (Well, actually, I have and I do, but that's beside the point.)

I hope to hell that Apple releases a media server (Tivo on steroids sounds right) with all the necessary inputs and outputs. Honestly, that would justify me getting my parents to get another mac in the household. :-)
But if this new product turns out to be a streaming player, I wouldn't be happy. I'd be MUCH more happy if they released a 80+GB (preferably 120) for 450 bucks 4.5" WS. Streaming portable video player is kinda unnecessary because, like many of you have mentioned before, if you can watch it on your 20" LCD screen why settle for 3-4"? Only time I use streaming music on my PSP is taking a crap or shower. The PSP isn't really loud but I turn off my fan thing and it's more than adequate (I'm not expecting hi-def surround sound while I sing to my favorite GN'R song).
Hell, throw in the idea of an iPhone. Very unlikely but if they release the movie store they better release that full screen iPod. I'm waiting Apple...

Outrageous that public servants are wasting time with this nonsense. Information is freedom. The real purpose is to increase traffic stops and ticketing to increase county and state revenue. Want to really stop drunk driving? Stop selling alcohol. Why not? Oh that's right... follow the money.

Well after 8 pages I'm not sure my 2 cents counts for much, but after buying MY "test movie" last night (the brilliant Romy and Michele's High School Reunion), I have a few observations.
Video Quality: Definitely looks a little soft on my widescreen 34" Sony HDTV, but not really bothersome. I'd argue with those who say you can't tell the difference from a DVD, but then again if you just threw the digital file on, I doubt anyone would complain.
Download speed: I must be lucky, because I got the entire movie in 20 minutes flat on my Cable modem. I don't expect that to be the standard, though.
Audio quality: Granted, this was not Revenge of the Sith, but the audio was totally satisfactory. I listened on headphones to get a better sense and the sound was perfectly fine.
My initial reaction was similar to many, in that I couldnt' imagine why people would want a digital file with no physical media, no artwork, and digital rights management, but I've begun to feel this will gain the same appeal as digital audio has. When iTunes started selling music, I was the first to poo-pooh the concept. I am a rabid music collector and couldn't imagine paying for a product without the jewel case, liner notes, etc... now I buy most of my music from iTunes (most, not all) and I don't regret it. I realized i really didn't WANT to cart around cases and discs when I could just have it all digitally, ready to watch, on my device. It's too early to say the same will happen with movies (which, admittedly, are a different animal) but I can definitely see the possibility of lightning striking twice.

He'll show a really crappy movie made on a cell phone.

This is horse *****! The current MacBook Pro has the best design of any laptop on the market. I love the glossy, black border surrounding the screen. I could go for update on the exterior casing. Maybe something along the lines of fiber glass. Reflective, but in some form of metal.

I am so sick of these Greenpeace people -- pushy-shovey types with nothing better to do than harrass people when they're trying to have fun at an Expo. Don't they realize the people they want to convince are huge Apple supporters and enthusiasts -- they don't want to hear some downer telling them negativity about Apple.
Apple might not be at the top of what constitutes eco-friendly for GP, but they're doing ok. In my opinion, when a person buys a computer/ipod/whatever, it's THEIR responsibiity to do something with that's eco-friendly-- if they don't know what that is, then they need to be educated.
Most educated, computer types would be more than happy to do the right thing if they just knew what that was. In fact, the dumb ones would too.

Perfect, just the news I've been waiting for. Currently have an Early-2008 model which I purchased in September just in need of a bit more power really! Also welcoming the extra USB ports and built in SD reader, Thunderbolt on the newer ones will be nice for an external HDD!
The built-in optical drive on my iMac seems broken too, keeps spitting out disks! :(

True, the Pentium M (Mobil Centrino) was a hudge sucess for Intel! The Pentium D (Desktop) was a dual-core disaster, pushing the old "NetBurst" Pentium 4 past all safe design limits.
Core 2 is the all new rework that saved Intel!
Core 2 isn't "all new". It's an evolutionary design based on Core tho some parts are borrowed from other Intel designs (the Memory Disambiguation tech was originally designed for the unreleased, unlamented Tejas, for example).
Other changes include a full 128-bit path to the SSE registers, meaning that all SSE instructions can now complete in a single cycle, L2 shared cache instead of separate L2's per CPU, an extra integer unit, etc.
And, of course, the 64bit extensions :)
Sure, there's enough in the way of changes/additions to render it worthy of being considered a new microarch, but those changes are evolutionary.
Ironically enough, there's a direct line from Core 2 going all the way back to P6, whereas NetBurst really was "all new"!

I got into a spat with a friend of a friend on Facebook about this. My buddy posted "Hey watch out for a DUI check point [insert location here." To which his friend said "Wow, good job helping drunk drivers get away free. Thats dumb."
Isn't it possible that the heads up provided up this app (and friends, newspapers, etc) may make people who know they will be drinking later in the evening re-think their mode of transportation? Could be saving a life or two.
