couldn't apple develop something into itunes that lets you watch while it is downloading? is this possible?

I assume the screen would be a touch screen. I would hate to start dialing numbers using the click wheel.
I think it would be kinda cool in a retro way. Just put the numbers on the click wheel. while most people just select the person on the list. which the iPod are really good at.

The AirPlay private key wasn't made public by Apple for the same reason the FairPlay private key wasn't-- having the private key essentially gives you access to an unencrypted stream of whatever content is encrypted by AirPlay.

This is the biggest worry for Apple. They can't raise lawsuits against free software apps hosted outside the US in the same way they could block the selling of non-licenced hardware in the US.

They have done something genuine for me, they have cared for me, they have loved me, etc. Some random idiot woman in a minivan is just another person, why should I care about her? Because she is a human? I think not. I have no personal connection to that woman, I cannot feasibly or easily use her to advance myself, so why should I care what happens to her today, tomorrow, or 20 years from now? Logically, I shouldn't; emotionally and morally I should because she is another person, I think that is nonsensical.

I'm calling it now. Apple's new "media center" device will be the iPod itself. I'm thinking that Apple will release a dock well suited for high definition video output to an HD tv.
People will purchase movies on iTunes, their movies will be transfered to their iPod upon updating and then, they can take their iPod to their TV (or anybody elses) for viewing movies on the large screen.

Keep listening to corporate run media which lies and doesn't tell the whole story.. my friend, unemployment and the economy aren't getting any better.. in fact, very soon it will collapse.. as inflation starts to settle in.. and if you wanna know the truth, look at BBC and other non-corporate run media for the truth. I know in my home state its like 7.9 percent and most of the jobs are health care and IT - no industrial, no customer service, nothing else.

Most of the cases get thrown out for lack of jurisdiction, or as they say "jurisdictional economy" (it gets too expensive to fight us). It's all just a money thing. They don't care.

I want to see Apple PUSH Thunderbolt into the logic board and all of the connections. Let's see Thunderbolt run SSD drives!!! If Apple and Intel don't push Thunderbolt into the light and really show how much better it is, and when I say "show" I mean build it and sell it to people, then it'll be a great idea that we'll all get around to years later than we should.
I could care less at the moment about external storage. I'll care at some point but not until the speed in the computer is as fast as it should be.
I recall FW400 having some success over SCSI. However FW800 was quite a disappointment. I was looking forward to it, until I realize only a handful of products are actually released. USB 2.0 is a success as it offers acceptable wide range performance. Would love eSata, however not holding my breath. ThunderBolt seems great, however with the lack of product announcements and pricing it is a wait and see if the masses will accept it or just go with other options NAS. :)

The best thing about listening to music on my iPod is I can listen to it wherever I am, such as in the car. Can't get wifi in the car, and no way am I tethering to my phone just to listen to music.
There is the thing about having to carry around multiple devices when one (assuming you have an iPhone) will do it all just as well.

Yeah, my sentiments exactly. This seems pretty useless, at least for me. I can't get too excited about it.
Hard Drives are mechanical, they die. I would personally use this as a backup and to listen when I am at work. I can have access to my entire music library from multiple devices. I have a 16gb iPhone, my entire library will not come close to fitting on that.

What? I don't get it.
You cannot CUT and paste in SL, only COPY and paste using the built in OS shortcuts.
I hate having to open two folders just to drag a file to MOVE it, so I had to pay $4 in the MAC App Store to get that functionality...

Useless to me if it is just for iTunes purchases. Please focus on more important things, Apple.
Given iTunes is the world's biggest music store, I think their new service will be quite useful to a lot of people. It's not difficult to imagine the kinds of people who would benefit from having their iTunes purchases backed up to the cloud automatically.
I just hope Steve Jobs doesn't wake up this morning and realise his new idea is useless to caspersoong and kill the project. :(

Rogue Amoeba offers terrific programs. I don't use Speakers on my iPhone very often, but Airfoil and its associated programs (Sunflower, Instant Hijack) run on my MBP very frequently.
I certainly understand Apple's need to protect its intellectual property and to ensure there is a clear distinction in consumers' minds between what portion of the iPhone experience reflects Apple's efforts and what portion is provided by others. Nonetheless, when dealing with partners whose employees tend to be computer science experts rather than legal experts, and where the partner has demonstrated a real commitment to Apple's platforms and a real ability to deliver Apple-worthy products, I think Apple would be wise to go the extra mile to make life easier for these partners.
As another poster implied, when some amateur developer gripes about Apple's approval process it's one thing, but when a developer of the caliber of Rogue Amoeba backs away, it's time for Apple to respond constructively.

80GB iPod seems like the only model with good value/price ratio. :D The home sync feature is an especially nice touch, something people predicted since the 2G iPods.
