Chinese and Japanese students have shown interest to study the Sinhala Language at the Sri Lankan universities and the Higher Education Ministry was planning to introduce new regulations soon to enable the admission of such students, officials said yesterday.
Ministry Secretary Sunil Jayantha Navaratne told the Daily Mirror yesterday the Cabinet approval had already been given to give scholarships to 100 foreign students to study at the local universities.
In addition, Dr. Navaratne said foreign students would be allowed to pursue local studies after paying course fees.
