There was a conversation among several of us at work. The topic eventually got around to the snowstorm approaching New England today.
I said my usual pat statement "I'd take a snowstorm any day over a hurricane. Snow storms don't demolish communities, a la hurricanes. Take Hurricane Andrew for instance. It was so devastating that building codes were rewritten."
And then a girl, who has lived in the south all her life, asked: Is the winter season up north as long as hurricane season?
And then somebody answered: Yes, it's about as long.
And I was sitting on the edge of my seat, rolling my eyes inside my head, wanting to scream: are you really so f'n stupid??? I mean, winter season up north lasts 3 months. Hurricane season is June 1 through November 30. Count it. June, July, August, September, October, November. That would be 6 months.
I know this is Florida, and counting is a challenge (can you say Al Gore's votes in 2000),
but ... really?????
