HEARTBREAK

That's the headline on today's paper.

When I first saw that, I thought "Oh no, something has gone wrong with the rescue of the Chilean miners."

I paused, not wanting to open the paper. But quickly I realized that the reference would be about the Rays losing last night.

Oh well.

Before the playoffs began, we were at a restaurant and chatting with the bartender.  The RedSox was the afternoon game of the week on Fox but the TVs were broadcasting the Gators game.  I waited till the game ended and asked if the TV could be changed to Fox.  She commented "you're going to watch the RedSox?  The Rays come on at 8pm."  Right, but until then ....

I asked her how many games she went to during this past season.  To my amazement she answered "4".  She proceeded to say that she had been to the last home game, where 20,000 free tickets were given away.  (Note:  the reason for that was that the game was going to be televised and the Rays didn't want it shown that nobody supports them.)

I wanted to say, but didn't, Fenway Park has sold out 697 consecutive home games without giving away 1 free ticket.  Oh, how I wanted to say that.  But manners ruled.

Here's a blurb that I found on the web, and it's a pretty good paragraph summarizing the Fenway Park experience.
"Sweet Caroline! Bum Bum Bum... Good times never seemed so good... SO GOOD SO GOOD SO GOOD!!!!!!"
I came to a game on Wednesday.. what a blast! The building itself is absolutely beautiful. Walking inside you can tell its been filled with lots of love throughout the years and I am so happy I got the privilege of watching a game here (a winning game no less!). The fans there are so passionate that you get wrapped up in the game immediately. I had such a great time.. and I'll surely go back again and again!!!

BTW... Fenway Franks are awesome!
Time for me to start wearing my Yankees Suck tee shirt.
