Where did Peter have lunch today?

At a cafe in a Christian bookstore.  Can you believe it???

He came home, and first words out of his mouth:  You'll never guess where I had lunch today.
I threw out several options, all answers were no, then the conversation proceeded:

M:  Come on, where?
P:  At a Christian book store.
M:  What???
P:  G and I planned to go to lunch together.  About an hour before, he asked if his wife could join us (she's off on Fridays).  Sure, why not.  The wife stopped by the field office, and explained that they'd also be hooking up with other members of their church at a neat cafe inside a bookstore.

Peter said he felt the brakes starting to come on, almost screeching to a halt.  No, No, I don't want to go.

He said the bookstore was huge, ala Waldenbooks.  And the cafe had a nice selection (he had a pastrami sandwich).

And at the end of the meal ... get this ... his co-worker picked up the tab for everyone there except Peter.  What???  (Thanks a lot, dude.)  Apparently the wife used the get-together as a thank you of some sorts, blah blah blah.

I asked Peter if they tried to slam their religion down his throat (you know how those Bible thumpers are), and he said no.  But his guard was up the entire time, just waiting for it.

And then I asked if the guy's wife was pretty.  (Such a girly question, isn't it?)  He said she was alright looking.

M:  So ... what do you mean by alright?
P:  Well, she wasn't ugly.
M:  So .... she was alright looking?  Like me?
P: No.  You're beautiful.

(Note to self:  make an appointment for Peter to get his eyes examined.  ha!)
