The 9 inch diet

I saw a story on the national news last night.  A guy bought a house that was built in the 1940s.  And his plates wouldn't fit in the kitchen cabinets. He thought "why would somebody build cabinets that don't hold plates?"

He then measured his plates, which were 12" in diameter.  He measured the cabinet shelves, they were 9" deep.

The story continued with how Americans are eating 30% more just to fill their plares.  Take 2 eggs and 2 pieces of bacon on a 9" plate, and it's full.  Take same amount of food and put it on a 12" plate, and there's still plenty of room.

Interesting.
