I felt like Martha Stewart

3:15p
I just came home from Wal-Mart grocery store.  Their oven roasted chickens (we just love the Lemon Pepper one) were just coming out of the rotisserie and I was standing there waiting.

A young couple came up to the deli, very southern, she had long stringy blonde hair and raggedy flip flops.  Anyway ... he asked me if I was waiting for the chicken.  When I said "yes", he asked me how they were and we got into a conversation of Costco vs. Wal-Mart vs. Publix roasted chickens.  We agreed that one can get 6 meals out of the one from Costco, 5 out of Wal-Mart's and maybe 4 meals out of Publix.  And Publix is $2.50 more than others.

So, OK .... now what are we going to talk about while deli lady is boxing up the chickens.  I mentioned to them that the ears of corn on the cob were on sale for $.19 each.  And they both got this blank look on their faces.  He asked me "how do you fix fresh corn?"

At first I thought he was joking.  But then I could tell he wasn't.  So I offered "boil water, drop in ears of corn, bring water to boil again, then cook for 4 minutes."  Imagine .... me..... giving cooking advice!  ha!  Geez, those 2 kids must have been really desperate to take advice from me.
