I finished the book at lunch time today. It had a twist on the last 2 pages that I didn't expect.
So .... the book is all about the olfactory sense. Here's a brief list of my favorite and least favorite smells:
Smells I Like
- Interior of a brand new car (it's been said that this is the most expense perfume in the world)
- Baby powder
- Original Old Spice, albeit very faintly
- Orange blossoms in bloom
- Vanilla
- Cinnamon
- Cigars
- Flaxsoap
- Neutrogena shower gel
- Popcorn
- Merita Bread factory on I-4 in Orlando
- Paper mills towns (Savannah, always. Jacksonville, sometimes. Like when the wind is blowing in the right direction. Or is it "wrong" direction".
- Red Bull
- Locker rooms
- Coconut
- Mildew
- The smell of someone after they've been outside
- Traditional Thanksgiving dinner scents
- Sherwin Williams paint factory adjacent to the Dan Ryan
- Driving past a lift station
Changing the topic, here's the book I'll be starting tonight, recommended by the same girl. Apparently it's a trilogy, this is the first episode. The author was planning on writing 10, but died at the end of the 3rd. She's on the 3rd book and is reading it very slowly, as she doesn't want it to end.
We'll see how this goes.
