11:30am
Well, remember those 2 parties that I mentioned?
Seems like the birthday party, that I thought was tonight, was last night. Oops. My first hint was so very many guests on the balcony next door, including the birthday girl (Eddie's sister). But I never saw Eddie or Ryan out there. And then I was thinking that maybe it was a Gasparilla Eve party and I didn't feel comfortable knocking on the door to invite myself in.
So .... maybe there will be another party tonight or maybe I misunderstood when Eddie mentioned "we're having a birthday party for my sister on last weekend in January". Oh well.
And then .... there's the Gasparilla party that started at 9am this morning. The invite said various breakfast items would be served and guests would be shuttled to the parade. We showed up at their house at 10:40am, cars parked in the street, but nobody in the house. Walked around to the side, saw the 2 dogs, I called John and got his voicemail.
We waited till 11:00am and some lady finally came out of the house. She was one of their guests and stayed behind because she wasn't feeling well. She explained that everybody left the house at 10am (oops!) and they were going to watch the pirate ships enter the harbor and then come back for lunch and then go to the parade.
She welcomed us in to stay with her but (1) I didn't want to catch whatever she had; and (2) we had already discussed a Plan B.
So we drove back to the condo, will have lunch here. The parade ends at the new park downtown, so will probably go down there mid-afternoon and see the parade from there.
If it's not raining. Rain is predicted for 2pm (which is coincidentally the start time of parade) and then a cold front is supposed to move in right behind it.
