July is a busy month for birthdays. Mark's was on the 7th, my colleague Kris's is this month too. Today is Georgina's birthday. Geo and I have been friends since we returned from Abu Dhabi in 2002. I met Geo on the first day of joining the Flying Geese Quilter in Bathurst, NSW. Geo's husband was a teacher at Mark's school and Geo found our telephone number through the school office. She called to invite me to her farm for lunch on my birthday. I did not tell her that it was my birthday until I was there. It was nice to have somewhere to go on my birthday when I only arrived in the place for less than a week! I remembered it so well. I was very touched. Thanks Georgina. and HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
I took this photo of Geo on New Year's day when I made a surprise visit to Bathurst. I just turned up on her doorstep on New Year's day. It a good visit because Geo still had her Christmas decorations up so I was lucky to see them.
This is the present I made for Geo. A name plate Natima's style. After piecing the block I hand quilted it all over with fan patterns. I think she will like it.
Every quilter loves scissors and never has enough. I know I do. I found these pair in a Chinese grocery here in Melbourne. I got one for myself and one for all my quilter friends. I have used mine and they are good quality stainless steel and very sharp. I particularly like the comfortable handles.
Geo is a traditional quilter and loves reading. I know she will enjoy reading the
Women On Quilts.
This is a book that
QuiltGallery brought out from the selections of entries and it was free for download. You can see the button on my side bar for the PDF file that you can either read or download and print. I printed and bound this for Geo because I am not sure if she will see it on my blog. I have not finished reading it, but the stories in this book are very moving to read.
