On Friday I received a copy of Scraps and Shirttails from
Bonnie K Hunter. Bonnie is a woman of my heart. She is a fantastic scraps quilter and on top of that she makes 'Green Quilts'. Quilts in this book were made from men's shirts. Bonnie's instruction on how to make 'Green Quilts' is in there too. I have been saving men's shirts for awhile now, but I have not had a chance to do anything with them. I hope now that I have this book as a guide I will start using the shirts. My first real 'Green Quilt' was the one I made with my friend Geo. When I left Bathurst, NSW. Geo and I decided to make quilts together using used clothing from op-shops or clothes we no longer wear. We divided all the used clothing we had in half. Geo finished hers a long time ago, but I have not finished mine yet. I finished piecing all the blocks and only need to put them together. It will happen soon.
This is the book 'Scraps & Shirttails' with a pile of my shirts including some of DH's shirts too. I cannot wait to cut into them and make an interesting quilt with them.
The pattern of the quilt above is in this book. For the life of me, I cannot remember where I have got this picture from. One thing I know is that it was from one of the blog links on Bonnie's blog. My big apology for using it and sorry I cannot provide a reference for it.
Enjoy
