The 1st Annual Bloggers Quilt Festival organized by Amy @ Park City Girl. I thought it was such a great idea to showcase many beautiful quilts on the blogs. Thanks Amy, for putting together such a fantastic event.
The reason I chose Omani's Trail quilt is because this was the first scrap quilt I have ever made. I started it when my family and I lived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates a few years back. After completing the top I decided to add the applique border. I did this during one of our trips to Oman from Abu Dhabi. The drive took 6 hours. As a result I named the quilt Omani's Trail. I entered this quilt in our local quilt exhibition and it won the viewers first choice.
This is a closeup of the applique border. I used leftovers 2 x 2 pieces from the centre of the blocks to make the flowers with and then the circles and leaves. It was a totally original design.
This is the quilt label. I always design quilt labels while I am making a quilt. I either make an extra block for the label or use a block that does not turn out well for the quilt. Making quilt labels is what I like most about quilting.
Thanks for dropping by to share the festival with me. Please leave me any comment either about the quilt or the festival. I am sure Amy is doing the rounds to check out all the quilts. I have already spent two days going throught the list. I only managed to leave a few comments so far. I will be going through the list again and will let you know when I drop by yours.
Enjoy
