One of our favorite items from the collection is the black pair of cuffed hot pants, bright pink leggings, bright pink t shirt with the skull and cross bones in white, and ankle high black boots.

This is a great teen outfit and it looks great in motion as we watch Lavigne romps through the set in this outfit with her long blond hair streaked with pink, of course, blowing in the wind.

This is certainly an energized outfit that would look hot and sexy on any teen.

Annie Hall in Zebra Strips?

This outfit is kind of intriguing although I am not sure if all the elements belong in one look.

I do adore the white shirt, black vest and bright zebra tie - sort of a punk version of that classical Annie Hall look.

The zebra stripped black and white leggings are very cool. I really love vivid prints.

Although we love the beehive hairdo, in this case, it tends to draw attention away from the outfit.

Australian Bath-Box Suitcase

My Australian bath-box has a friend. This is Lynda's, she cover hers with the
dress pattern tissues.
It looks very affective...! Now we are ready to get on with our challenges.

I was given a couple of suitcases to play with. I decided to collage it before I use it for our 2009 challenges. I was experiment with paper collage method at the moment so I decided to give it a go on the suitcase. Being Australia day weekend when I worked on it, I've chosen an Australian bath-box on the top and Australia map on the bottom of it.

This is Mel, my friend and colleague. I've met Mel on my first few days of starting work. We have been very good friends ever since. Having friends at work is very important in my working life. I look forward to going to work each day because I have friends there.

Let me introduce you to Kris. Kris is also my colleague. She is a sweet heart, she is always there for me. Kris gets me my coffee in the morning. We call ourselves Dora bitches because we are collectors of Pandora bracelets

Yes, we do have a life out side work too. When there is a special occasion we take ourselves to Yum Cha lunch. We do have at least 4 birthdays a year to celebrate and that means lunch lunch and lunch....!!! Then when one of use go on holiday we have to have another lunch for that too. We went out on Friday because it was Fi's last day before she goes away for 4 weeks. You see?

Natima's Flower Garden #2

First lesson was fusible applique, it is the easiest method of applique and if you already have embroidery skill the rest is easy. This is Lynda's block in progress

The end of the day Lynda completed 4 blocks with 4 different applique methods. The finish quilt will look nice with the pink and green. Hope you are happy Lynda.

To follow on from the last image of Natima's flower garden quilt. I just found this quilt tucked away in my quilting storage. This is an original quilt to go with the applique patterns. It is a sweet little wall hanging and it cover all hand applique techniques. I am excited to be teaching this workshop again this Sunday.

Natima's Garden

Natima's Garden is my teaching quilt that I created to teach applique. There are 4 different methods of applique in this quilt. The quilt in the picture belongs to Becky. She did it in my workshop when we lived in Abu Dhabi back in 1997. I have been teaching this same workshops many times over.
I am very please to say that, some of my friends I taught became famous quilt designers, for example Cynthia Tomaszwaski and Rebecca Colestock I am teaching this workshop again this Sunday to Lynda and Lynette. I am looking forward to it. It is a way of reviving my own skills.

Finally...

Finally, I had brought the book that I want. The Diary of Anne Frank... I hope I will finish reading this book as soon as possible.

Besides that, I'm also watching this english drama. The current episode that's on air now was episode 3. But, the storyline is nice and it attracts me to continue to watch. I think some of you may like it.

Obama's Inauguration Day

Waking up at 3 AM just to witness the new America was worth it for me......! I have been wandering for 8 years why did the Nation like America let themselves dragged down that road for so long? Obama brought a new light and new way of life to America and please stop the war in Iraq? I rocked up to work today wearing my Old Glory t-shirt I've bought in Washington DC 10 years ago. I wouldn't dare wearing it during the Bush's administration just in case people think I am an American. Now I am wearing it in support of Obama. I am not a political person, but I am agaist war........!!!

Watermelon Collage

Wednesday is our book binding workshop during lunch time at my work. We called ourselves BBBB (Bold Beautiful Book Binding). Today I showed them the process of how to make paper collage. I made this one last night as a diary cover. This is my second paper collage and I started to love it. I like tearing papers into small bits. It's a something you can do on the plane using the in flight magazines without scissors. I had a lot of fun doing that on my travel in October. I used up 3 copies of air Egypt in flight magazines on that trip.

The finished diary collage. I opened the cover out flat and collaged it in one piece so when you fold the diary in half you can see the watermelon on both sides.

Lovabel's Quilt

This is one of my Lovabel's block that I made in a workshop with Laurene Sinema in Abu Dhabi. Laurene revived the patterns from an Antique quilt of the 1930's. I only finished 4 blocks in the workshop. The techniques use in this quilt is applique and embroidery. Lynette have chosen this quilt for her 2009 challenge. Lynette had dyed the fabrics to use in the quilt. Her quilt is going to look totally different than mine or the original.

This is a photograph of the original quilt Laurene had. Sadly Laurene passed away a few years ago of breast cancer. I have promised myself that one day I will finish this quilt in memory of Laurene.

Quilt Viewing Day

What is quilt viewing day....? Well it started in January 2008 when I brought down my Christmas quilt and decorations and replaced it with a Leaf quilt that I just completed after several years of making (6 years). I told Lynette, Lynda and Karen about it and they all wanted to have a look so, they did. It's now become a traditional that after I bring down my Christmas quilt and decorations I have to replace with a new quilt (new to others, not to me.....!!!). The new quilt for this year is the Two Friend quilt below and the Quilt Viewing day was 19 January 09. Here is Karen inspecting a piece of my crazy quilt calls Nat's Buttons

More inspection was being done by both Karen and Lynette. We always ended up in my sewing room after viewing the quilt and had afternoon tea. My small sewing room was full of chattered with ooohs and rrrrrs. They told me that my sewing room is like an old fashion shop that have everything and more. I think that my sewing room is too small so every surface is cover with stuff. I love it anyway.............!!!

Two Friends - Quilt Challenge

I have posted this once before without much explaination. Now after a quilt viewing day on Monday I added another closed up of these two blocks for you to have a closer look. There is a story behind every quilt. This one has a long story to go with it, but unfortunately I couldn't cut and paste it from the word doc. so one day when I have a bit more time I will retype it to share with you.

Platinum Fashion Mall Bangkok

A relatively new shopping center in the Petchburi area, Platinum Fashion Mall caters especially to wholesale clothing, selling a similar range of clothing to the Pratunam Market across the street, except in air-conditioned comfort. I like reading books. So that means I like buying books that I like. When I was studying in KL, I think I had spent most of my free time reading books and went to thee bookstore to read. I like going to KLCC. Kinokuniya... One of the reason is there are lots of books and got places to sit besides it is near to the place I stay. Most of my books were bought at there.

When I am in KL, stay with my mum, Time Square may be the best place. I mean the bookstore there. Borders...

Portuguese Custard Tarts

I was requested to post some recipes. It is not that I am an expert cook or anything like that, but I like giving tea parties and baking. My sweet turns out better than my meals so I must be doing something right. I am going to post recipes of those that I like. Today I made Portuguese Custard Tarts and it turns out really well so, I will share the recipe with you.

Portuguese Custard Tarts
3 sheets frozen puff pastry
2 tablespoons custard powder
2 tablespoons caster sugar
400ml cream
Finely grated zest of 1 orange
1 teaspoons vanilla essence
Icing sugar, to dust
1. Preheat oven to 220'c/200'c fanforced. Cut each pastry sheet into 4 x 10cm circles to line a 1/2 cup capacity muffin pan. Refrigerate.
2. Stir together custard powder, sugar and 1/2 cup cream until smooth. Stir in zest and vanilla. Bring remaining cream to the boil in a small saucepan. Stir into custard. Return mixture to pan. Stir over low heat for 2 minutes until thickened. Cool for 5 minutes. Pure into prepared cases.
3. Bake on middle over shelf for 15 minutes or until pastry is cooked. Cool and dust with icing.

Australia Day Biscuits

As Australia Day weekend is approaching I thought I would give you my adapted Australia day biscuit recipe for you to try out.

Australia Day Biscuits
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup plain flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup coconut
1/2 teaspoon salt
125g butter
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 tablespoon boiling water.
Combine oats, shifted flour, brown sugar, coconut and salt and put it aside.
Put butter and honey in microwave able mixing bowl and microwave for 1 minute on high.
Mix soda with boiling water and add to melted butter mixture and stir well and then add to
the dry ingredients. Take teaspoonfuls of mixture and place on lightly greased oven trays.
Bake in slow oven temp. 160'c for 20 minutes.

This is my favourite recipe and the biscuits can be kept for up to a week in the airtight container. Enjoy and have a nice and safe Australia Day weekend.

GILLIAN FOSTER is a gifted psychologist and Cal’s professional partner, a woman whose guidance Cal needs, whether he knows it or not; WILL LOKER is Cal’s lead researcher, and he’s so aware of the human tendency to lie that he’s decided to uncomplicate matters and practice what he terms “radical honesty”: he says everything on his mind at all times. RIA TORRES, the newest member of the team, arrives at the truth differently by acting more on instinct and using her natural, less-studied ability to read body language and catch certain clues that Cal’s other pledges may miss.
