The old Macfanclub hating the gamer , we have heard it before. There isnt any reason Macs cant game. You buy a thousand or two thousand machine it should be able to game. Mini cant.............Powermac is pure Overkill workstation. A gigantic hole for sure. Here's to the Mac gamers ! you act like the Core Duo (Yonah) is terribly slower than Core 2 Duo (Merom), but benchmarks have showed that they are very similar in performance. i don't see the big deal about upgrading all of them now, when the current chip has plenty of powerSorry. That was not the intent of my meaning. I agree with you. But now that Core 2 are shipping, the 64-bit character of this new generation of processors will in the long term make a difference in the OS as well as in the Pro apps. There are also large energy management differences between Yonah and Merom giving the portables noticably longer battery life immediately.

No, he's saying Apple does not track your location. There has been no evidence that any of the location information leaves your phone/computer. Whether that file should exist or not is another debate.
+1 the people crying about this are just plain ignorant and have NO idea how much stuff records their location. If they are so worried they need to get rid of their car GPS too. Its tracking info is MUCH more accurate and it stores it in the device. Oh and if your camera has geotagging don't forget that too!
Plus what people don't understand is that this information has to be obtained from having the device and knowing how to get the file and read it. If your phone never gets stolen you have nothing to worry about. If your phone gets stolen guess what, you also have nothing to worry about. Theives are going to wipe it anyway so they don't get caught.

I'm downloading it as well, but I have no icon on my dock to show me the progress! AppStore said the download had started, but I see no icon. I tried to Redeem my code again, but it said it had already been redeemed. My bandwidth monitor is reporting a solid 600KB/s down though... hopefully it works!

Some mathematicians hold that multiplication by juxtaposition (omitting the x sign, ex. 2(4+3) ) is a symbol of grouping. No fixed convention exists.
That's probably why Spotlight gives a different answer if you write the expression with or without the "*".
Some people will say 2, others will say 288 and it has nothing to do with their math skills but only with the convention they use.
To give the only right answer to the original question: don't write an expression in such a retarded way :p

Hey well my girlfriend just got me a kit for Christmas, and it works great. I've be on a trip with a total drive time of 18 to 20
hours, and I haven't had a problem, and it actually improves my iPhone 3g function since it doesn't have to use the native gps chip. So I think it is a good product. Good luck with BLT!!!

I guess I am the only one that remembers that it started out as a free service. Before it was .Mac it was called iTools and it was free. It was a benefit of being a part of the Mac community. It certainly was much more basic back then, but I have been using it since. The remote wipe for iPhone and other added features keep it worth the family pac price for this household even if it doesn't go back to being a free service.
I remember good old iTools, in fact, you didnt even have to have a mac to use the email if I remember right. There was a huge uproar when a Jaguar update started branding it .mac and would began charging. The good old days! It's kinda a sucker punch to all of us who paid when it was .mac. The only benefits of .mac were iDisk, ecards and backup really. $99 for that compared to mobileMe, makes mobileMe a bargain, lol.

Could the thinner profile be a result to full integration of "Light Peak" fiber optics? I know some state that "Light Peak" is only beneficial to external devices and limited to a mini-DisplayPort connection. However, Intel has tested "Light Peak" as a replacement for internal components, replacing the need for multiple controllers such as built-in USB/FireWire/Display connections. It's been mentioned that "ThunderBolt" will handle USB 3.0 with the new Sandy Bridge logic board/chips due out. SATA drives currently offer 3/Gbps but with the advent of SSD's, slimming down the guts with a full "Light Peak" system that runs most components would make sense no?
(and AMEN to Apple getting slightly back on track with their Professional line, now just focus on a dedicated ACD line instead of a stripped down 27" iMac LED LCD panel and for god's sake extend the cables for the current display to reach Mac Pro's!)

I'm not impressed if this is where the iMac display is potentially going , the current GPUs can barely drive the resolutions they have now in anything other than simple desktop apps . , can you imagine what video card you would need to drive a game (say portal 2 which has low to modest requirements) at 30fps + on a screen with 3200 or higher resloution ? Well whatever that GPU is , apple will ship with the one released 2 years ago and half the RAM it shipped with on the PC .
I love the mac OS , I love the mac design , I hate the "last years tech with a shiney shell" we seem to have to put up with , super high res screens and faster I/O ports are all well and good , but put a decent GPU in now the mac is becoming a contender as a home gaming platform .

I for one am not really that bothered about Lion or any OS updates - I love to have the latest thing and all improvements are always good. However, in my opinion they need to fix the OS I have before they release another one! For example with the last "update" [10.6.7] my Open type fonts are now playing up and the wonderful new Mac App Store takes about a minute to launch!
I get very worried when I hear El-Jobso talking about post a PC world as if he has decided already that the PC is dead. I for one could not make a living using an iPad and an iPhone.
Macs have always historically been used by content creators and designers [like me]. If, sometime in the future, Apple plan to lock down the system like they do with the iOS then I will simply stop upgrading my system. I could carry on using the system I have now until I retire, so it makes no odds to me if they want to stop making "proper" macs. I would imagine the rest of the design community would feel the same.

However, if these consumers are going to have something to look at or play with or listen to, then us designers need the tools to create stuff with and that means powerful PCs.

Kind of a stupid way to write it. That's why most people add unnecessary parentheses when writing equations on a computer in ascii.

A division is just the inverse of a multiplication, how could one have precedence over the other (same for addition and subtraction)? 48(1/2)(9+3) gives the same answer. It sounds like a lot of people don't really understand what they are doing but rather following a magic spell.
The confusion really is what is being divided is it 2 or 24. Even if you follow pemdas you should end up with :
48/2(9+3)
=48/2(12)
=24(12)=288.

Maybe they are waiting for the iPod event so they cab release a 4 inch iPhone and iPod touch at the same time so there isn't fragmentation

They have patents but they HAVE to pursue infringers or they can lose the rights to the patents. That's why you see so many patent lawsuits. Unfortunately, that's just how the system works (in very basic terms).
