I think I remember reading on one of the MacRumors forums that Merom is really a full 64-bit processor, but rather a 32-bit w/ 64-bit extensions or something. Any truth in this?

If you mean that we should get free Cloud services without ads then I think you're completely wrong and I'm most worried about sites that provide free services and have absolutely nothing but VC cash to pay for it. And if you mean we should have the option of paying for Cloud services to avoid ads, then fine, but you can do that with Gmail, so I don't see why you think MobileMe is any better than Gmail (from the privacy perspective).

Sergey Brin and Larry Page have made very strong statements about their respect for their users and they understand that without the users they'd have no company. Nice straw man. Apple didn't buy their way to the top. Years ago when the whole world was busy designing netbooks, Apple was polishing the iPad. They knew the product would be a hit and that component supply was a potential problem, so they secured their supply for the long-term. It's called planning and foresight. Their strategy was not without risk - if the iPad didn't catch on then Apple would be sitting on millions of displays and unable to move them.
If RIM wanted easy access to components then they should have ordered them years ago like Apple did. Oh I forgot, the Playbook was conceived the day after Apple launched iPod 1. I guess it sucks to be a follower.

Eh... yeah. Of course I have a MacBook on the way! :( Not a huge deal, but having a 64 bit processor would be nice! But then, my company is buying it for me, so I guess it doesn't really matter in the end anyway. ;)

Some rumors for the Verizon Chocolate (http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/cellphones/lg-vx8500-chocolate-to-verizon-confirmed-187461.php) suggest an AUGUST 7TH Release Date. That's the same day as the start of WWDC, when Apple's new products will be announced! Just a coincidence?

i'm still baffled why nobody's answered my question. anyone with a g5 powermac upgrade to an off the shelf video card yet?
i wonder about video card compatibility because i don't see a single driver on nvidia or ati for mac. and the specifications for the 1900 xfx and nvidia 7950 both don't even list mac compatibility. this is really making me think twice about buying from apple.

I'm also betting that the macbook pro and macbook both get core 2 duo chips, with MBP getting faster ones with 4MB L2 cache, and MB getting slower ones with lower L2 cache.
