I've got a feeling that AI is right on the money here. Next Tuesday is going to be exciting, and I expect that it will go according to the script that AI has suggested.

when you are at home turn on your WIFI...
why is this concept so hard to grasp?
you are a different kind of user. 3 running copies at once?? you rely way too much on physical stuff....so obviously this won't be for you.
Ummm, what is so hard to grasp about using stuff when NOT AT HOME???? Why is being at home the focal point for you? Why do you assume that people and myself are only going to listen to music when at home? People do it away from home too. Also, I do use WiFi at home. I still have all my music and such stored locally. I have three running copies for one reason....HDD failure. Now, HDDs are inside the space available inside my PC tower so its like they're not even there. So you're right, this wouldn't be for me. Why should I have to pay AT&T more money just because Apple may potentially shake it all up. Nah uh....no way.

Apple, please,
BRING BACK THE MAC CUBE concept!
A small yet powerful Mac. But this this at a REASONABLE price, to be a best-seller.
Thanks.

The MBA looks bad as an ultraportable? L.O.L.
The MBP is for people who want a powerful notebook. People who want a laptop capable of using parts that equal 85-watts or higher.
I don't want a MacBook Air. I want a MacBook Pro without an optical drive that is slightly thinner than the current MacBook Pro.
If you think the only thing that separates the MacBook Air from the Pro is an optical drive then I'm wasting my time arguing with you. Clearly someone that thinks a 15" Zacate notebook with an optical drive makes a 15" MacBook Pro with a quad core 45 watt CPU and a 25W+ GPU without an optical drive look bad is someone that knows little about what they're talking about.
I don't see HP Envy owners complaining about their lack of an optical drive inside their machines nor do I see people knock that particular fact about the Envy.
So, ONE netbook which has an optical drive. Which makes the MBA look bad because it doesn't have one.
Actually, most netbooks make the MBA look bad because it doesn't have gigabit ethernet.
And a 15" Zacate which is not a notebook because the CPU is too weak, it's not a netbook, and it's not an ultraportable because it's too big would make an MBP without optical disk look bad because of the price, even if it has little reason to exist (unclassifiable in a bad way).

what the heck LOL, this is a joke right? I have NEVER seen a single new windows phone being used in public nor do I see that many Android devices in the UK. mostly I see
1. BlackBerries
2. iPhones
never seen a new windows phone LOL, most people who are happy with iPhones etc, will stick with them and won't bother going for anything else.
Looking at the email notification I got of your original list before your edit:
1. BlackBerries
2. iPhones
3. HTC'S <--- Those would be your Android/WP7 phones. ;)
4. Nokia N-Series
1. BlackBerries
2. iPhones

Let's ask yourself this.. they are saying that approx 1 in every 17 people now have a Windows based phone?? Do you know ANYONE that does?? Cause I know hundreds of people who have smartphones and not one of them has a Windows based phone.. major statistical failure!
Completely agree! In fact, everyone I see throughout my daily life is 60% iphone, 40% android. I haven't even seen those foldable phones for a long time now.

They should be kicked out of every place all the time. They are almost as bad as the Sierra Club. Liars, cheats and thieves -- they lie about everything, trick you into giving them money for a cause and spend the money on their ridiculous liberal agendas based on flat out falsehoods and lies.
I love the environment and volunteer twice a month for environmental restoration and preservation projects. But I can't stand the scare tactics of these types of groups that use junk science and fear to steal your money and make themselves rich and powerful.

They are bothered because they want to be able to describe their app store. They want to be able to say:
"We have this thing called Marketplace. What is it? Well, it's a place where you can by apps. Think of it as a grocery store for apps. You know, an app store."
But MS never consistently used the term App to describe any part of their business. Sure it pops up occasionally here and there, almost at random, but that's about it. Historically they've always used 'Programs'. So to use your example, why couldn't they say: "We have this thing called Marketplace. What is it? Well, it's a place where you can buy programs.....". Why are they not happy with that? It will line up so much better with their software genealogy.
I suspect the truth of the matter is they now want to start using 'App' for everything (instead of Programs), because Apple has popularized the term. Its on everybody's tongue now. And MS wants in on it. They want their stuff to be associated with the buzz that Apple created. That's borderline parasitic to me.

Sonos is far from dead, been alive and kicking in my house since and will do so far beyond whenever AppleTV5 gets discontinued I'm sure... The market will always have a space for alternatives to Apple, especially when something as hated (by a large number of people) as iTunes is integral to the system. There is nothing more closed and proprietary than Apples system, and save for a couple of lovely products Ive bought into (macbook and iphone) its something I refuse to invest any further in.
There's an old saying I remember from the old mainframe people (system/390, etc.) -- a closed system that is wildly popular doesn't matter if it's closed anymore. In other words, Apple's ecosystem is so popular and rich that it doesn't matter whether it's open or not. The fact that it's a defacto standard (or is on its way to becoming one) is more important.
Not to mention, it's not like Sonos is open. Sonos is caught in the world of its own proprietary, small, and expensive ecosystem. They have to continually spend money on it to adapt new features to their proprietary system (instead of just supporting truly open standards) and that costs money, i.e. an engineering expense and a staff.
I reiterate, they're dead, they just don't know it yet. And in their office walls, they probably do know it.
When I worked for the company making streaming devices, we didn't fear Sonos or any of their ilk, because they were happy not being mass market and bilking their customers for overpriced proprietary equipment -- not the market we were going for, and Sonos was not even close to being the biggest offender. There are some companies that make embedded devices intended for new home construction that are far worse.

This is fairly remarkable, considering that the really only viable place to watch these movies is on an iPod! Yes, you can watch it on your iMac, or on your television hooked to a Mac Mini, but really, the set top box (iTV) can't come soon enough! Furthermore, this is really the kind of content that lends itself to the TV, rather than the iPod (Disney movies that parents put on replay for hours on end.)
Of course, maybe these stats are dominated by those who wanted to watch Coyote Ugly on the train, on their way to work ;-) .

Sooo looking forward to this! I'll probably get one from the Apple Store the following day maybe. Highest stock model for me! Well, unless the price jumps up from the current one. Oh and a bad GPU will make me buy a new PC that day. So come on good GPU!
The GPU offerings will most likely be the following:
Low end 21.5" - 6490M rebranded as a 6450
High end 21.5" and low end 27" - 6750M rebranded as a 6570 or 6670
High end 27" - 6950M rebranded as a 6750 or 6770

A start to movie downloads is for sure.
But anything else might be postponed, so we must try to remain calm :)
(It's all the OTHER rumors that interest me more. I highly doubt that iTunes movies will meet my standards at first--though I'm happy to see a step in that direction. If they're less than DVD quality they'd better be close AND very cheap. And until the selection rivals Netflix it won't see much use from me.)
Re Core 2 Duo
The iMac may get the headline (if a larger size is truly coming) but they could well update iMacs AND MacBook Pros simultaneously. Makes a good announcement that way.

The benchmarks on Tom's Hardware are up.
Intel's Core 2 Quadro Kentsfield: Four Cores on a Rampage (http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/09/10/four_cores_on_the_rampage/)
An up to 100% performance increase over the Core 2 Duo. Goodness me.
I was surprised to see that it's the same form factor chunkywise (same pin setup as Core 2 Duo and compatible with those MBs) - I thought it would be thicker.Great catch Law Guy. Congratulations and thanks!
This is huge news. Where is everybody?!?
It appears that Conroe motherboards or logic boards, as some like to call them, are Core 2 Quadro ready. Oops! No wonder Apple hasn't released an early Conroe Mac. They's obviously waiting for these Core 2 Quadros to ship - dropping a bomb on everyone who bought a Mac Pro.
Am I the only one here who thinks this is gigantic news? I can hear a pin drop. The stunned silence is deafening. ;)
Maybe an early Christmas Present Is In The Works For November Shipping from Apple. :)
So Kentsfield is dubbed Core 2 Quadro or C2Q for short. And it looks like this - last pic is pin view with Core 2 Duo on left Core 2 Quadro on right:
