I think we all knew it was gonna work (for Apple). Its just enticing the studios thats the hard part. As good as this news is its not likely to appear outside the US for a LONG time... heck we still dont get TV shows! :rolleyes:

Still they store it and can access it - nobody except my touches my iPhone and my Laptop. I actually enjoyed looking at the map. Nobody can access it on they fly on the road.

everyone here is on facebook, exposing their real names, friends, user uploaded photos that are under the control of facebook under the new TOS agreement, where they live, phone numbers, what they like, what they dislike, their status updates, etc.
I'm not .... (and I'm not on any other stupid social 'share my ****' sites) ... still, I dont have a problem to have the location data on MY phone and MY laptop unaccessible for anyone else :)

so, how does one go about getting the 1.2 update? It does not appear in my version of iTunes7Install Quicktime 7.1.3 (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/mac.html) then install iTunes 7 (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/). Connect your 3-5G iPod. Updater will appear in the new iTunes when you highligh the iPod in the left column. Eazy Peezy. :)

Not to mention that it completely ignores the differences in culture regarding transportation. America is set up with cars being the main type of transport. Most European countries don't have this set up.
Knowing this, you then must acknowledge that many don't have the crazy subsidies we have on gas that gives it the appearance of being cheap, only because at the end stage the price tag is lower.

i didn't ignore anything. i stream pandora all the time when i'm on the go and while i'm at the house. my work has wifi so i just connect to that and my house wifi while i'm there. I have a buddy here at work that streams netflix and tons of other stuff but refuses to connect to wifi. he uses close to 10gb of data monthly and has still not received any message from AT&T.
My point is there are a lot of people that just don't connect to wifi when they are around it free, they just rely on their cell service instead. The reason i connect is bc when i'm looking online it's quicker internet wise then the 3g.
I'm not wanting anyone to change. but you're arguing that this service isn't great...when in reality it's just not great for you.
I like to live minimally....so having a dvd collection or cd collection of physical media does not interest me. Apparently, others think the same way or the cloud service would not exist. The service is not for you. Go back to ripping cds to your local storage device and making play list after play list and sync all ur music each time u want a variety.
Many people are the same way with books. My MIL has like 1,500 books in her house and just sees no value in a kindle and all that it provides.

I used to have a laptop as a single computer at my home. It resembled a Christmas tree pretty much - it had an USB optical mouse, a printer, external speakers, a Yamaha keyboard, card reader and power cord plugged in. I was always plugging and unplugging cables whenever I wanted to move it to another place. Thank goodness I did not come to the idea to attach an external monitor to it.

Looks pretty sweet. When I return to the UK I will probably pick up one of these. Mac Pro, though nice, is just overkill.
Personally I'm a huge fan of daisy chaining. Less devices, less cables, less clutter. You just attach each device to the next.

The marantz one is, you have to pay $40 to uPgrade firmware to get AirPlay working at all. At least you did with early versions, not sure about current versions, AirPlay may work without upgrade with those.

I'm salaried (aka "Exempt") in my job. We used to clock in and out but they made us quit several years ago and now there is no tracking of our hours. I was told at the time it was a legal requirement that we not be made to clock in and out.
In any event, there are rules defining what jobs are and are not eligible as exempt. There are lots of references online with information.

He means CUT and paste hence the caps. Not copy. i.e. The text you select is both deleted and copied to the clipboard. I use it a lot myself in Windows and do miss it in OSX. Also allows you to easily move files around by CUT and pasting them :D

As far as using it for moving files, I don't use it because I always assumed, probably wrongly, that there was some file size limit or that it could affect performance when using it for large files (I mostly work with huge ProRes files. Maybe I think that because of old Photoshop error windows, when closing the application, saying clipboard failed to save due to size?
Actually what annoys me in SL to no end is lack of file size sorting in Finder search (CMD+F) and the changes to Finder search like not being able to select which disk you're searching. If there is a way please inform me!

What do people prefer? I've heard quite bad things about the Magic Mouse, the majority of people saying they find it uncomfortable etc?
As I already have a good Logitech wireless mouse, would it be a better combination to use that plus the Trackpad?
I love Apple but the magic mouse still has a lot to go.
Now the trackpad on my MBP is something I can't live without, if you already have a good mouse get the trackpad,you won't regret it.

Sooo looking forward to this! I'll probably get one from the Apple Store the following day maybe. Highest stock model for me! Well, unless the price jumps up from the current one. Oh and a bad GPU will make me buy a new PC that day. So come on good GPU!

Yes they have their issues, but they will not dwindle away. Very few large scale enterprises stay on the upside all the time. Remember when Apple nearly bit the dust? It can happen to any of them. MS will be fine.

1. Merom is out.
2. Other laptop makers have release Merom machines, or will do so in the very near future.
3. IF Apple wants to stay competitive with other laptop makes THEN it must also release a Merom laptop line within a similar timeframe.

The other is at a media event with a keynote. As we don't know how much of an upgrade this will be (just chip or case redesign?) it is not unreasonable to assume that the next major even may involve this release, given that the MacBook Pro is a product line at least tangential to photography for a lot of people. Neither is it unreasonable to think they would release them the week before as they did with the iMac.
