Huh? If they aren't making any money for it now (with relatively few people paying for the service) how would it make sense to give it away for free (with many many more people not paying for it?)
I for one use it ALL the time. When you have more than one device (multiple macs, iphone), it's SO nice to have them sync wirelessly, immediately, and without having to login every time, on the native apps. iCal, Contacts, Safari links: I am a very frequent user of the mobileme syncing on all of these.
Maybe as marketing? Like you said, it works well and seamlessly if you have several Apple devices. People might be thinking of buying more than one Apple product, but wondering how they can keep everything synced.
Apple could promote Mobile Me as a "value add" and perhaps get more buyers of other devices that way?

I think that whoever is complaining about the MacBook keyboard has never used one.
I would love to see a new MBP design. I would like to see a new display, go back to hard plastic like the MB, eliminate open latch, new keyboard like MB, FW 800, Merom core 2 duo, X1900 GPU, redesigned case with removable HD, battery, and easy memory access like the MB.:D :D :D :D

Samsung to complete the Galaxy

Additionally, Samsung Mobile

Samsung to launch GALAXY Tab

Since only I can access the info, who cares?
This is not a real issue. Ridiculous.
Guess the Apple Haters care ... since they can't attack the iOS on any other grounds they have to either make up funny arguments or overblow every tiny none-issue (and leave out the facts how it looks on their favorite platform).
And of course the press cares since there is a new thing where they can attach their favorite 'gate' to.

That's very true. But Apple (or any software, consumer electronics company) would be foolish to not close known security holes.
Yes, new holes will be found. And Apple will try to plug those up, as well. I can't see an argument for people complaining that Apple is patching security holes.
At least on iPhone you can apply the updates on the day they come out (well, JB versions have to wait a couple of days) ... compare this to Android and WinMobile7 where you are at the mercy of the carrier to 'enrich' the update with their 'features' which might take many weeks or month - if it ever comes.

Wow. Any breakdowns of what patents Samsung are allegedly infringing on that our local patent experts can give some insight into?
I wonder who will be next to sue whom?

First of all...it seems to me they should have offered a single dual core processor model...like a single 2.6Ghz model for something like $1599. Second why do you only save $300 when you opt for the 2Ghz model but the 3Ghz model costs $800 more???
The 2.66 GHz machine is a bargain. If you pick a different model, Apple will make a bit more money.

so what CPU would power the phone ?
Something based off of the ARM architecture. Maybe a TI OMAP processor (a 150MHz TI OMAP 1510 powers my Motorola phone, that has an integrated ARM9 CPU, I could see an Apple phone using the newer 1710 for example). There's dozens of other mobile phone chipset providers of course, with their own ARM based solutions integrating varying types of functionality.

Mobileme is certainly worth more than free. Apple doesn't scrape your emails and other data to target adds at you a la Google.
I could see Apple making some features of Mobileme free. I don't think they're just going kill a revenue stream but they could offer a basic free Mobileme account which gives you.
A me.com email address with 5 aliases.
Sync features
"Find my damn iDevice"
Calendar, Contacts, Bookmark sync
Web page
Gallery
iWork.com
Then roll out Mobileme Pro
Make iDisk more like Drop Box.
Enhance the sync
Online Backup
Cloud Music (Lala style)
iWork.com Pro (adds collaborative editing)
Whatever other cool stuff they can deliver
I think that would be a really good solution!

Some designs changes i'd like to see (all the rest i'm fine with):
- Dust filters
- Thunderbolt ports, front and back (instead of one of the firewire ports)
- Usb 3.0 replacing usb 2.0 ports
- PSU on bottom to keep it cool
- HD's on bottom to keep them cool too
- At least one dedicated SSD bay

I have to say Dev2 is much more buggy performance wise for me, but less buggy appearance wise. I also get random CPU spikes and the fans kick up to 5000rpm then slow down after a minute or two.
Chrome won't quit with out a force quit, Chromium won't launch. Safari has a bug where in order to have a file download you also need to have it listed as "preparing to download" or the speed on it drops to 12KB/s.

Queue the hitler response.....
And when Hitler's constituents thought he was wrong, he decided to annihilate those who didn't want to see things his way too. Destroying opposition rather than improving one's self is way's a "#WINNING" thing to do.
Wow, I gotta get some credit for that one... Charlie Sheen, Apple, and Hitler all in one sentence!
Hitler? What the heck. This is one company exercising their right to control its product. How you got to Hitler is beyond bizzare. This is just an electronic device
"Hey I can't Jailbreak my phone! Darn Apple is like Genghis Khan!"

I'm not interested in purchasing a laptop yet... I was waiting for merom to make its way into a MB.... but also for Leopard so I don't have to pay $100 to upgrade in 4 months.
But, I also think the real update is with the Santa Rosa chipset... faster FSB... more ram.... 802.11N!!!!
Thats a big update compared to this.
I'm watching this though to see how quickly they update their models after a new product is announced, I mean its no longer like PPC days when they would be sitting waiting for the chip to arrive ... late....delayed...and generally just missing.... now they have to keep their computer up to date with the chips.
A quicker roll-out really would ease my mind, since that hopefully shows that Santa Rosa will be equally swiftly doled out.
Merom
802.11n
Blu-ray
Leopard
HD screen
7 hr battery for bare min. use
Thats the sweet spot. The last two would be icing on the cake... that would be wonderfully sweet from the blu-ray...
but hey... I think that will really show that apple is on the forefront of technology ... the EXTREME EDGE...Leopard is in 9 months not 4. And Santa Rosa is in the same 9 months. I like you would rather have Santa Rosa inside with Leopard. I may go minimum Merom MacBook Refurb meanwhile. I fugure they'll hit the SAVE page by November. I think Blu-Ray is way overrated and not likely to get inside for another year if ever.

I don't like this at all.
I mean, yeah, hopefully they will distribute Mac OS X Lion on disc in retail stores but I like to have physical copies of my software, rather than a file on my computer. The chance of data corruption is far less likely, depending on how well you take care of your discs.
Also, I'm estimating that Mac OS X Lion will be a pretty large file. Maybe 4gb? Not everyone has broadband, some people are still on dial-up. Can you imagine how long it would take downloading a 4gb file over 56k?
Also, how will they distribute the download? Will the file be an ISO or DMG file? How do you install it from that file?

Im interested in what Apple will do with the 15 MBP. If Apple doubled the resolution of the 1440x900 display, then going from a 1680x1050 MBP to this new 2880x1800 MBP means an increase in DPI but a decrease in viewable information.
