This doesn't mean they will just re-brand a phone...it might just mean they are buying transmitters/etc. from other sources rather than engineering their own. Depending on what they buying "off the shelf," this only makes sense...why re-create the wheel?
Of course they may end up just re-branding a phone, but that doesn't really seem like the Apple thing to do.
Apple will most likely buy a platform from a manufacturer like SonyEricsson. That doesnt mean it will look or feel like a SonyEricsson. LG has bought platforms from SE and they differ quite a lot from SE's phones.

I never said my actions were morally right. I'll admit that my actions are probably very immoral, and ethically wrong. The simple fact is I don't care about how people view my morality or ethics. Why should I care what people think of me. I never said it bothers me that you guys are not agreeing with me, all I said is that I find it laughable.

This is the same attitude that people like Bernie Madoff, Kenneth Lay, etc had as they totally scammed thousands of people out of billions of dollars.

Perhaps time machine capsules could go on the cloud?
They could tattoo the number on people's foreheads as a bar code.
Welcome to Costco.. I love you.

I don't claim to know a thing about trademark law, but looking at this simply I find it difficult to understand how the term "Windows" can become a trademark but "App Store" cannot.
(I feel dirty defending Microsoft, but...)
Microsoft aren't selling windows called Windows, they're selling an OS called Windows. It is a generic phrase, but it's not a generic phrase for the object it describes. App Store is (to me at least!) a generic phrase for an application store.

PCI Express, not Extreme.
Note that there's a multiplier as well - a PCIe x16 slot is twice as fast as a PCIe x8 slot, and 16 times faster than a PCIe x1 slot.

Hmmm... OK, My bad.
Two 16- lane PCI Express slots.
Basically take Mac Pro and cut it in half, metaphorically of course.
So, Multimedia, my Cube really has a spot for a fan?
Who would have thought it? Not me, that's for sure.
Seems to me most of the groundwork's already done. All Apple have to do is take the old cube, and integrate the ease of expandability of the existing Mac Pro, add the missing fan, and some other fans inside, and we suddenly have a computer that is able to cool some seriously hot hardware, and will cause a small thermonuclear explosion if you ever put a book over its top vent.
I have decided that I think it is highly unlikely that a kentsfield will find its way into an iMac, however I hope I am mistaken. Very much hoping the Mini Mac Pro is created.
BTW, What is with all the Anti Mini Mac Pro hostility??? "I'm sorry, you can't have a Quad 2.67 Ghz CPU and a top of the line graphics card. I'm sure a Mac Mini will more than fulfil your needs, with its Dual 1.86 Ghz Yonah processor and Integrated Graphics. As long as you de-emphasize on productivity, you should find a Mac Mini is plenty fast enough. After all, Apple is perfect, and anything they don't offer should be wanted by you."

Oh yeah - you said it - qualified in "buisiness" [sic] but works in finance - surely that should read - holds some form of accountancy degree and is an accountant? No? under-qualified then. (or clerk)
Oh I see, you're a smart ass. Oh how cute!!!
Tell ya what little boy, Besides a business degree I also hold CCE and CFCC from the AACE as well as a PMP from the PMI. On top of all that, I have worked in the industry for over 35 years. I forgot more about business that your sarcastic smart ass will ever know.
And trust me, my degree and certs have little to do with it. A grade school kid knows that a company that just posted a quarter with revenues of $16.43 billion (which is an increase of 13% from the same period in 2010), and profit of $5.23 billion isn't "DEAD"...
Obviously you don't understand that, in which case, you wouldn't even be a good clerk. Judging from you childish post, I do think I've met before. Haven't I heard you say "Would you like fries with that Sir"????

back here in the UK Hoover were able to trade mark Hoover as their name despite the fact that hoover is the generic term for a vacuum cleaner!
Well, we ask for a "Kleenex", not a tissue.
We drink a "Coke", not a soda.
We use a "Band-Aid", not an adhesive bandage.
We like to "Roller Blade", not inline skate.
Although we don't "Hoover" here in the United States, I think "Hoover" falls into the "Coke, Kleenex, Band-aid, etc." catagory in England.

I am not worried at all. Yes the next event will be all about the Movie store and next gen iPod.
Some love it some not. For the lather ones, the one more thing, the MBP update, "by public demand".
Everybody is happy. Well almost.

ok, just made a quick mockup of what i would like to see announced next week
http://users.pandora.be/blackbox/airport_video.png
and make shure it also works with video_ts folders and avi/divx files (maybe via an front row API for third party developers like VLC?) ;)
this would perfectly complement that itunes movie store
You nailed it, that would be perfect. That's EXACTLY what they should do.

Photokina is a photo convention. Not a computer convention.
the 17" MBP was released at a Media event... why not an update at a Photo event...
This is Apple.. they dont follow rules

They're really not going to let this go are they...
Companies REALLY want to use "App Store" instead of coming up with their own.

Now there's 100GB BDXL. There's plenty of time for Blu-Ray to keep on living on notebooks.
Err... and how is that relevant? I'm sure Blu-Ray will live on in other notebooks, but Apple's? Unlikely.
There were 100GB BDXL when Apple refreshed the MacBook Pro's this year.

why is apple wasting time, money and resources on a damn red U2 ipod? I hope the Zune becomes a big hit and takes a big chunk out of apple market share so they can focus on making a better product instead of these stupid minor updates and colors.

Because they use the same battery, how can videos play longer and not music?
Either the video playback code was improved to be less power hungry (maybe it uses less CPU, maybe it doesn't need to spin the disk as much), or an improved video chip was put in which uses less power.

Of course Apple need to do more than just impress general Mac users like you guys. Like with the iPod, if they want big success, they're going to have to get to grips with an entirely new scene, culture even, and bring it's adherents something new.
As someone who considers film as influential in his upbringing as his family and friends even, I'm looking for Apple to honor the spirit of film rather than just crank out downloadable movies like the lack-luster businesses who suck all the art and atmosphere out of the DVD market.
Forget music, this is the big one. Apple are dealing with the most powerful art form on the planet, they'd better do it justice.
I'll reserve judgement until I see what they have to offer les fanatiques du cinema, but I'm optimistic.

Well, Ive dismissed most of the other complaints. But this is Rogue Amoeba. Phil Schiller needs to get involved with this immediately completely unacceptable. They are one of the premier Mac shareware developers.
Indeed, I hope Apple listens and apologizes etc. to get Rogue Amoeba back.
Come on Apple!

$100m = 4 days worth of iPod sales on average or 16 days of iPod profits.
