Interesting to see Apple's move. Traditionally with PowerPC the upgrades are more serene and not as volatile and frequent as the intels.
As a lot of Apple users are "trendy, cool consumers", they might get pissed off at these "more frequent updates" that makes their "cool investments" absolete faster. :eek:

Also CDMA isn't crappy it offers higherspeed than HSDPA while using less spectrum.
ok.. see, i never said TECHNICALLY it was crap. OK, so CDMA can have higher speed than 3G GSM. ITS A MOBILE PHONE. what the hell do you need 14mbps for?
a jet car that goes 300mph on a drag strip is NOT better than a Audi/Merc/BMW/Bentley/etc that only does 250mph, but can drive on a normal road.

GSM (which uses a SIM card) offers so much more flexibility. hell. I doubt we'll see some headless tower (apart from the macpro) i honestly don't think its in apple's interest to openup a new price point. Mac mini provides a nice entry for windows users, people wanting something next to their tv, or have the monitor etc already. MacBook provides mobile low end. iMac allows a bit more power and features over the mini for home users wanting a bit more and companies and people who dont need the power of the Mac Pro. MacBook Pro is high end portable allowing for graphics, photography, design, etc, and to some extent gaming on the go. The Mac Pro is the beast, a workstation more than a desktop and therefore is over specced for the normal user. But why put in a new model in between a imac and a mac pro when having the gap forces people looking for more than an imac to go for the mac pro and increase revenue. By creating an 'in between' model it takes sales away from the popular imac and the expensive mac pro, would probably have to have lower margins to get people to buy it and would just float about in the middle. Maybe die a fate similar to the cube? I don't see it being a smart move.

I hope somehow apple creates forum software with spotlight search so as soon as I start typing something it searches through 500 pages of posts and on the right side of the screen will show similar comments, who posted it, and on what pages similar comments are/where posted.

because the p910 when released was a $AU1300 phone. i dont want to be paying for that TWICE (no phone is free. u either pay up front or you pay in your monthly contract) if i change carrier. you dont get a new Mac because you change ISP, do you?

I thought this was an FCC mandate (to track GPS information for cellphones) after 9/11.
Not the date 9/11. Location is mandated for E911, the emergency call number.
However, in ATT's case, that location is determined on the carrier side alone, not by way of the phone itself as is done on say, Verizon.

If it's not sent anywhere, then it's almost certainly a simple programmer screwup, leaving in test code.
The data is actually collected by cell tower triangulation, not GPS.
To use the cell method (and I doubt it's triangulation - but that's a different topic), the cell id must be sent to Apple's location server, which then returns the computed general center of that cell, which is in an area about 1/3 of the tower's coverage.
The claim is that no data is going back and forth while the location is being collected, which makes no sense unless every iPhone has a huge cell database stored or cached internally. (Possible.)

Fearing a design change to something like 16:9 ratio for the 2011 refresh, I bought my 2010 in late November. I really hope they remain the only computer company to not go with the 16:9 ratio. I even keep my dock parked on the side, not the bottom to get the maximum vertical space.
Other than that the current design is simple and elegant and I love it. Having a snap in slot for a second hard drive which could quickly swap to a DVD drive would be great.

Play(load a level under medium settings), and PLAY are two different things;) There is NO MAC (much less the mGPU blessed iMac) that can max Crysis (@ native res) at livable frame rates(>30)...especially not at 2560x1440.

I think Apple's app-approval process is pretty arbitrary, so how much do they care about precedent in the first place? Apple giveth, and Apple taketh away. There is much bile spilled over it, but Apple's sales continue to soar.
I personally think passing around checkpoint info is protected under free speech. But, to repeat myself, anyone who is over the legal limit and uses an app to avoid a DUI is a selfish, irresponsible *******.

If Apple makes just a GSM phone, they're also making a phone that can be used in almost every other country in the world. Europe and Asia are the real cell phone markets, not the US.

Ya, i know 3G isnt that popular in America, but i expect the iPhone at least should have built-in WiFi like many Phones in today's market. So we can use the iPhone to video LIVE chat with the other Mac users or iPhone users through the internet. Since many Universities have Wi-Fi covered the whole school, so i think it will benefit abot students. And more and more hot-spot now.
It's not that it's popular, it's just that we never get around to doing the recent when it comes to mobile phones.
I'm not sure if we'll get video chat. I hardly see any phones that can do that with the exception of the Nokia N80, but still, you can't do that anywhere here anyways.
