Good news. My Mom needs a new iMac due to screen issues on her ancient machine, so she will be getting my hand-me-down 24-inch Core 2 and I will be buying an upgrade. I would like to see the 24-inch come back, but will probably consider and go with the 27-inch.
Hope these machines don't run too hot or have too many mechanical problems. As long as Apple doesn't unnecessarily try to make these things another 1/4 inch thin, then I'm guessing these are okay right off the bat.

As a long time PC user who is just getting frustrated with the windows experience, I am looking forward to seeing what Mac has to offer in the coming months.
I've been using Windows since 3.1 (ugh) and Mac since 1990. I use both today - Mac by choice, Windows not by choice.
I think you're in for quite a pleasant surprise if/when you make the transition.
I converted to Linux in 2007 and Mac in 2009 after using Windows since version 3.1 and don't miss a thing! It's true what they say "Mac's just work."
The resident professional Microsoft astroturfers will be here shortly to point out the error of your ways. ;)

New Apple Cinema Displays with glossy screens and iSights would be amazing. :)

Glossy screen is the worst thing for professionals that depend on color accuracy.
As for the Isight, I think they will keep off from the Cinema displays. They will make an smaller format stand alone IMHO.
I don't think a Special Event will happen for these products.

a jet car that goes 300mph on a drag strip is NOT better than a Audi/Merc/BMW/Bentley/etc that only does 250mph, but can drive on a normal road.
for consumers, it (CDMA) is crap. you are so used to having to choose a phone based on what your carrier supports (or vice-versa) that you can't see how that is a problem. GSM (which uses a SIM card) offers so much more flexibility. hell. I can take my phone to any country with a GSM network, put in a sim card, and VOILA i am connected (not that i need to worry anyway, with vodafone global roaming)

You don't own anything you download from the iTunes store now. You hold a license and are allowed to play or view it, but you do not own it.

Vendors are expected to stick to their designated booth that they paid for. Conventions make money by charging for floorspace. What kind of leverage would they have to charge for premium or larger floorspace, if vendors could just get the smallest booth possible, but then flood the convention floor with people handing out brochures? Even though Greenpeace is not a vendor and probably received their booth space pro-bono, they should still stick to the convention floor rules.

Sorry, but you're totally wrong.
Play(load a level under medium settings), and PLAY are two different things;) There is NO MAC (much less the mGPU blessed iMac) that can max Crysis (@ native res) at livable frame rates(>30)...especially not at 2560x1440.

The real question is why MS is so bothered about Apple using 'App Store'. Historically MS (almost) never used the word App, instead using the word Programs. Surely MS can come up with many alternatives that describe their own store equally well, if not better. Why fight with Apple over this? I can only conclude that it is to spite Apple, or to ride Apple's coat tails yet again.
Even if MS is right, logically, linguistically, I find their attitude over this rather puerile. PR-wise it says to me "Apple, if we can't imitate you, we'll sue you"

Well of course it will. Processing speed is only one of the reasons people buy Mac Pros. I'll predict that a SB iMac quad will easily go faster than any one of the current Mac Pros and maybe even faster than the corrent hexacore.

Dont know if anyone will bother reading this far in but these new imac core2duos still have the same 667mhz bus speed as before, we wont see new bus speeds till nearly a year from now i hear, that sucks, this system could probably warp ahead with a better bus speed, i wanna upgrade from my g5 dual 2.7 (1.35ghz bus speed if i remember right) but im not sure how much diffference it would really make to me, and going mac to an imac from a powermac is a bit odd for me (im a 3d animator) there are pros and cons but im still tempted, main think holding me back is an intel maya, although i could always bootcamp windows and use that version!

It makes sense. iProducts are increasingly becoming ubiquitous, therefore they will become more profitable for malware developers to attack. It's not a McAfee sales pitch so much as it's stating the obvious. Same with Android.

It's displays ignorance of the facts to say, "When Apple has more market share, they'll be more of a target." 10 or so years ago, Mac had a very small market share, and there were a handful of viruses that ran on Mac OS 9 and earlier. Today, Mac has a much larger market share than ever before (and growing at the rate of a million Macs a month), and the number of viruses in the wild that run on current Macs has not increased, but has declined.... to exactly zero. There has never been a virus in the wild that runs on Mac OS X. That completely nullifies the "market share" argument. The fact is, Macs already DO have a larger market share, not to mention iPhones and other iDevices. Are they immune to threats? Absolutely not. No device is immune. The fact is, at the present time, there are no threats to Mac OS X or iDevices except one: the user.
