Sri Lanka to become knowledge hub

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has a vision to make Sri Lanka the Wonder of Asia. Under this vision, converting the country as a knowledge hub is one of the goals. Developing human capital to create and sustain the knowledge hub is the vision of the Higher Education Ministry,said Minister S B Dissanayake.

"The country has to achieve 12 goals. Reducing regional education disparity is one of them. Modern technology should be used to achieve this goal",he said.

Minister S B Dissanayake was addressing a gathering after an MoU signing between the Higher Education Ministry and Mobitel to use Mobitel's mLearning yesterday at the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Mobitel mLearning will be used as a National Higher Education Learning Platform through the National Online Distance Education Service (NODES). This Higher Education Ministry's initiative is part of a programme themed "Equal Knowledge for All".
