I've heard about this place for years and we decided to give it a try this morning. How's the saying go? Been there, done that.
This is me, working the Sunday sudoku puzzle, outside the restaurant, next to a rooster.
Apparently the restaurant used to be located next to the original Skyway Bridge, but had to move in the 70s to make room for the new Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
It's a kitschy place. But ... no heat. Everyone in there kept their coats or sweatshirts on.
Oh, and the waitress had such bad grammar that I wanted to hand her a note that said "Please just refill the coffees and don't talk anymore. Your grammar is hurting my ears."
Example: One of the signature items on the menu is pig brains. Well, what better place to try it than a restaurant that specializes in it. I figured putting them in scrambled eggs would do the trick. I asked the waitress what they taste like. She answered: It's a required taste.
Are you kidding me? Did she really just say that?
Anyway, I ordered them, ate 1/4 of them, then took half of Peter's breakfast (chicken fried steak, biscuit with sausage gravy).
So now we've been to that restaurant. And we'll not go back. But, heh, you don't know until you've tried it
