There's another high school homecoming on Friday night, for a total of 3 schools the same night. Yikes. To say that we've got a car shortage is putting it mildly, but the co-chairman and I are constantly working on it.
Anyway ...... in the process of calling every Corvette owner that we know, I called my pal, Jesse, who is in the Army and stationed at MacDill. Even though Jesse is not a club member, he has agreed to participate. He was so sweet when I told him of the dilemma of 3 schools. He said "I only want to do the school you're doing."
Aww.
It's now 7:30p on Sunday night and I just spoke with him again. His new girlfriend will meet us all at the school, he wanted to follow me over.
Jesse: What time are you planning on leaving your place?
Me: I want to get on I-75 South before the 5pm traffic, since the school wants us there no later than 6pm. I'm thinking of leaving at 4:30pm.
Jesse: So why don't I just meet you at the Howard Johnson's parking lot, right close to where you live.
Me: Hell, just come on over to the condo and you can park in Peter's space while you wait for me to come down.
Jesse: OK.
Me: Or, better yet, come on over at 4pm and we can have a cold Tecate before we hit the road.
Jesse, without any hesitation: Sounds good.
Yay. It will be great to see him again. My gosh, it's been forever.
Can't wait.
