Born, The Monster Way (Gaga's BTW Video)

Utterly disgusting for her haters, visual haven for her Little Monsters.

Obviously, she never fails to stun her fans in everything occult that she does. The much anticipated music video for BTW, her first single off the album Born This Way premiered 12 midnight in Manila. It's one of those "either-you-love-or-you-hate" MTV. The plot of her 7-minute masterpiece was obviously born out of her mind. Unlike from her previous works, every bit of BTW video has some Gaga-ness' art direction on it.

THE CREATION. The visual three-minute prologue about how her "race" was concept-ed has shown a birthing Monster (lecturing about slimy mitosis) and a machine gun being pulled out of her nasty cave. I in jest would think she might have drawn her concept
from the book of Genesis and Revelation - the creation of good and the proliferation of evil. The images were so graphic with every frame full of worthy sh*t, you wouldn't absorb it all in one sitting.

BREATHER. Everything was toned down when BTW music was played in the background. Gaga in her signature two piece struts her tattooed body with Laurieann Gibson's eclectic dance routines.  The setting was a dark platform (maybe she's inside a big ovary!) along with her "LGBT"  dancers (who have the same pointed shoulder bones like her.)

But then there's more; Gaga went a little dark and explored her Goth side. She painted her face like a punk and flirted with the Zombie boy, Rick Genest. The singer has also paid tribute to the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, and surprisingly has impersonated a teary eyed Madonna. Whether or not she has plans to dethrone the Queen of Pop, that i don't know.

Jane Russell

The Actress Heated Up the Silver Screen

Jane Russell started her career in movies as star of "The Outlaw," a film so sultry that it sat unreleased for 5 years while its producer, Howard Hughes, negotiated with the censors over shots of her cleavage.

Ms. Russell, who died Monday at age 89, was a star long before most of the public ever saw one of her movies—as a popular, World War II pinup.

But so over-the-top was her appearance that she had more success in comedies, including "The Paleface" (1948) with Bob Hope.

Mr. Hope liked to introduce her on his radio show as "the 2 and only Jane Russell."

Perhaps the highlight of Ms. Russell's career was co-starring with another bombshell, Marilyn Monroe, in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," Anita Loos's sly 1953 hit musical about a pair of showgirls on the prowl.

She was a native of Bemidji, Minn., and everything about her was real, including her name, Ernestine Jane Geraldine Russell.

Her family moved to the Los Angeles area in the 1930s. Her father worked as an office manager and her mother was a lay preacher. Ms. Russell took piano and acting lessons.

It was while she was working as a receptionist that she was discovered and signed immediately by Mr. Hughes to a film contract.

She made a string of movies including a pair of films noirs co-starring Robert Mitchum, one of the few leads who seemed to thrive on screen with her, "His Kind of Woman" (1951) and "Macao" (1952).

In the late 1940s, Ms. Russell launched a musical career as a nightclub singer.

She also recorded gospel music and headed a Hollywood Bible study group. In 1971, she did a turn on Broadway in Stephen Sondheim's "Company."

She also became the Tv spokesman for Playtex, and the ubiquitous Cross Your Heart Bras — "for us full-figured gals"— reintroduced her to generations unaware of what the original fuss had been about.

Unable to have children herself, Ms. Russell adopted 3 children and founded World Adoption International Agency, which helped arrange the adoptions of over 40,000 overseas children.

Mahela to sue state owned ITN

Sri Lanka vice captain Mahela Jayawardene is considering legal action against state owned Independent Television Network (ITN) in response to commentary which implied he was guilty of match-fixing.

A state television broadcast suggested Jayawardene deliberately played badly for financial gain in Saturday's cricket World Cup defeat by Pakistan. Jayawardene said his lawyer was drafting a letter to "get to the bottom" of the accusation.

President and Children

By Bandula Jayasekara

President Mahinda Rajapaksa starts his day very early. All his days are very busy and his meetings and other engagements go on till late. But, there is one thing that has caught my attention and touched me immensely. That is his love for children.

One day after a meeting in the cabinet room, ministers and other officials were invited to lunch by the President in his traditional hospitable style. They all went in and waited but the host was missing.  I decided to look for him as he was nowhere to be seen. My search inside the whole building drew a blank and stepped out to make inquiries from the security personnel. There I saw him, surrounded by scores of little children. He had scooted away to meet a group of school children who had come to see him while the VIPS were awaiting him.

SLdeserves helping hand, says Aussie MP ... stresses need for a political solution

Member of the Australian Parliament for Bennelong, John Alexander, in his address to the Deputy Speaker on the Main Committee Motion on Sri Lanka, on Feb. 28, said turmoil and conflict in Sri Lanka must not be given oxygen and the country deserved international assistance. He stressed the need for a political solution.

Following are excerpts of Alexander’s speech:

"The people of Sri Lanka have endured the pain and suffering of conflict for over 26 years. With estimations of more than 70,000 people killed and nearly half a million people displaced, the world breathed a collective sigh of relief when the fighting finally concluded in May 2009. As with all conflict, it is only when the shellings cease, and when the bullets stop raining down from roof tops that accusations of inappropriate conduct during war can be analysed.

Peradeniya University

"No university in the world would have such a setting", exclaimed Sir Ivor Jennings, who seated on a tree stump on a hillock on the opposite bank of River Mahaweli, created in his mind's eye the buildings of the new university as they would dot the forest clad inclines of Lower Hantana range as envisaged by the site plan prepared by Sir Patrick Abercrombie.

Peradeniya University File photo
The buildings designed according to national tradition by Shirley De Alwis were to come up gradually during the years that followed. Nearly 70 years have passed since that momentous event, when the man who was destined to be the founding father of our university virtually undertook the mission assigned him with a passionate commitment.
Although he had undertaken and completed a variety of tasks during his illustrious career Peradeniya is undoubtedly his most enduring monument. Visiting Peradeniya in 1962, seven years after he left Sri Lanka having completed his mission and addressing the university teachers who had hosted him for dinner he was to say "..... I hope your university will go on developing and growing. You are heirs of the pioneers of 1952 and I hope you are looking after the property really well in the tradition of all other Universities. You have the foundations here of an excellent University".
